Great Post Mortem Ambrotype - Quarter Plate - Remains To Be Seen

Great quarter plate postmortem ambrotype of a dead young girl. She appears to have passed away approximately at age 4 or 5. She rests peacefully on a plaid covered bed and holds her hands crossed under her chest. This piece was bought from a descendant of the little girl and had always been in the family home until recently. The source indicated the girl had passed away in the 1850s and had done so in the Massachusetts family home. Contained in a full leather case split at the seam.
