Three Newsboys Theatricals - Remains To Be Seen

Three Newsboys: Nat Goodwin, Ada Rehan , Adelina Patti. Rehan was born April 22, 1857 in Limerick, Ireland and died in Jan. 8, 1916, New York, N.Y. Rehan's original name Ada Crehan. American actress of the late 19th century, one of the finest of her day, whose great popularity grew from performances of Shakespeare and adaptations of European comedies. Ada Crehan grew up in Brooklyn, New York, where her family settled shortly after the Civil War. Her parents moved to the United States when she was five years old. She made her first stage appearance in Newark, N.J. in 1874 in a small part in Across the Continent. Rehan followed her older sisters onto the stage. Adelina Patti, (1843-1919), was a world famous opera singer who was born in Madrid, Spain. Patti began as a child performer at age eight and she spent her life touring all over the world as a concert star. Her 1861 Covent Garden debut, as Amina in Bellini's 'La Sonnambula,' established her as a prima donna. She was renowned for her unerring self-confidence, fine ear and intonation, and effortless flexibility.
