Sixth plate ambrotype of an elderly Civil War sailor, decked out in coat and rain-tarred hat. His face is tinted a ruddy color and the buttons and epaulets are also tinted gold. He obviously is a man of many years at sea and it shows in the weathered and experienced look one sees in his face. Great study of a Man at Sea.
